July 4th Concert on the Lawn featuring BonesWest
Friday, July 4 - Free Concert, affordable food
Barbecue at 5:30pm, Concert at 7pm, Fireworks at 9pm

The 2008 St. Andrew’s Summer Concert Series will begin on Friday,
July 4th with a rousing presentation by an all-trombone group called
BonesWest, ending with spectacular fireworks over the San Clemente
pier.. BonesWest is a trombone choir that was the brainchild of George Roberts,
which he started at Orange Coast College in September 1980. Players are drawn
from both amateur and professional ranks and range in age from the teens through
their 70’s.
The group meets regularly every Saturday morning in Santa Ana to
rehearse and jam together. In their own words, they have great camaraderie and a
whale of a good workout!! According to a recent LA Times article, “there are
other trombone choirs that come together around the country for special
concerts. But none have the look, feel and consistent heft of BonesWest, which
for the last 27 years has drawn amateurs and professionals alike to what could
be the world's largest weekly open trombone jam.” The concert is free and open
to the public but there will be a nominal charge for food purchased at the
church-sponsored barbecue. Bring your own picnic, if you choose, and bring your
own beach chairs and/or blankets, sit back, relax and enjoy a beautiful summer
evening. For additional information about BonesWest, please visit their website at

Clemente, the Revelation Jazz Band. Founded in 2003 and led by John Hockins on
the horn, who doubles as president of the New Orleans Jazz Club of Southern
California, they are the hottest band around. This 7 member group is committed
to playing a distinctive New Orleans sound with an English flavor that swings
with jazz excitement. The concert is free but there will be a nominal charge for
food purchased at the barbecue, or bring your own meal if you prefer. Beach

television. Their programs include not only great Western classics, but
also the rich musical heritage of famous Ukrainian composers such as Bortnyansky
and Prokofiev. For years St. Andrew's had enjoyed a special relationship
with the Kiev Symphony through our work with Music Mission Kiev. Don't
miss this one-of-a-kind opportunity to experience this world-class performance.
