Missions and Outreach
At St. Andrew's we believe that we are
truly called to change the world. We reach out beyond the walls of the
church building to help those in need. Here are a sampling of
opportunities to impact our local community, region, and even far-away lands
through the ministries of St. Andrew's.

Mission Trips
Mission Trip to Kyiv 2008
St Andrew’s is once again sending multiple teams to work in
Kyiv, Ukraine. Our plans are to:
- Bring two grad orphans to California to work on their English and for work
experience.
- Take a team to the Krasni Hutor orphanage, on the Ukraine-Belarus border.
We will live there, minister to the children living at the orphanage and
continue work on the 1880s facility.
- Take a team to the Music Mission Kiev English / Bible camp.
- Send an annual pledge to Music Mission Kiev to support its ministries in
Kyiv.
Please click here or
contact Rev. Lucy Stafford-Lewis or Diane Clark for further information about
these opportunities.

Specific Mission Projects
Souper
Bowl of Caring
Super
Bowl Sunday means more than just football. Our youth group, the Method,
collects money in soup pots for Family Assistance Ministries as we take part in
the national
Souper Bowl of Caring campaign. If
everyone in the church would just give one dollar on this one Sunday, we'd raise
$400 to help fight hunger right here in San Clemente. We are asking
everyone to donate the amount that you would normally spend on snacks for the
Super Bowl. Please support this effort as we tackle hunger.
Easter Basket Project
Coming March 2008,
8:30am - 12:30pm, in the Fellowship Hall
This year we
will continue our tradition of collecting items for baskets for Camp Pendleton
families and preparing them as a congregation – with something new this year. We
will plan our baskets with Bibles or message books (for little kids) as a
central theme. And you will have the opportunity to “order” a basket for a
family, a teen, or an adult, and to deliver that basket personally – with an
invitation to join us at St. Andrew’s for Easter Services.
Trick-Or-Treat
for UNICEF
During the entire month of October, our Children's Ministries
collects money for the United Nations Children's Fund, which provides
nutritional and educational support to children in impoverished areas.
Please look for our trick-or-treaters with the orange collection boxes as we
near Halloween.
South County Hunger Walk
Coming in October 2008,
1pm
San Clemente Community Center
The annual South County Hunger Walk is the
main fund-raising event for the non-profit organization, Family Assistance
Ministries. FAM prepares a Thanksgiving dinner, Christmas dinner, and an Easter
brunch for the less fortunate in our comminity. Throughout the year, FAM offers
assistance for
rent, utilities, transportation vouchers, and a food bank for
numerous clients. FAM depends on the generosity of the local community
to
provide these benefits. We need to urge everyone to donate to this fundraiser,
either as a walker obtaining their own sponsorships, or, for the ones not
walking, to sponsor someone else.
St. Andrew's has been a prime supporter of this event for over 10 years.

Alternative Gift Market
The Alternative Gift Market was held in Fellowship Hall, Sunday, November 12th, from 8 a.m. to 12 noon.
Wonderful organizations such as Habitat for Humanity, African Team Ministries,
Heifer International, United Methodist Committee on Relief, and others will be
there to offer goods and services for purchase and donations. We will also
feature our own Kiev Mission Team and local charities. Please save the
date and join us so that at Christmastime your gift-giving will truly make a
difference!!
Community Thanksgiving Feast
The
churches and community of San Clemente serve a Thanksgiving meal with
all the trimmings to any local family or individual who is in need. Each
family or individual will also be able to take home a bag of groceries.
The following help is always needed to make the Feast a success:
Donations of already-cooked dishes
will be accepted after 4pm.
Volunteer food preparers, decorators,
servers, musicians, grocery preparers, clean up crew, set up crew, and greeters.
MARY ERICKSON
COMMUNITY HOUSING

(MECH) is
a non-profit corporation and a designated Community Housing Development
Organization, serving South Orange County, California, from Lake Forest to San
Clemente. Formed in 1991, MECH owns and operates five apartment buildings,
housing more than 80 low-wage family members. Every Christmas our youth group,
the Method, purchases and distributes Christmas presents to the children who
live in Mary Erickson Housing. This year we purchased and delivered gifts
to 53 children. If you'd like to financially support this
effort, contact church office.
