A Firm Foundation

Ok, it’s a boring title: “Foundation.” You don’t go to the Seattle Space Needle to admire the foundation. You don’t go to the Empire State Building to check the view from the foundation. We like to see things that go up. Cathedrals, skyscrapers, monuments, snow covered mountains – these all inspire us because they go UP!

But things only go up if they have a strong foundation. St. Andrew’s established the Foundation in 1998 to provide a more solid financial base for the church. Today the Foundations financial assets are approximately $900,000.00.

This financial foundation allows us to do things that soar, like sending children to summer camps, purchasing new chairs for the fellowship hall, providing a beautiful Memorial Garden, sending our youth on mission trips to serve and learn, to name just a few.

The renewed “Annual” Foundation Dinner (which has never actually been annual) has always been a highlight for the church. We get to dress up a bit, have a great dinner, raise some money for good causes, and thank people who have made a difference in the life of the church. Great Fun! Wonderful fellowship! And with the dinner, we build a firmer Foundation.

Having added to the strength of the foundation, we can begin to look up. You might not know, but the Foundation maintains a variety of funds for various parts of St. Andrew’s. While the children, youth and music funds, are the most popular, we also have funds for Adult Missions, Bell Choir, Guest Musicians, Guest Speakers, Facilities Reserve Funds, Fellowship Hall, Landscaping, Library, Puppets, Memorial Assistance, Sanctuary Tech, Seniors, and Video.

Anyone can donate to any fund at any time. These donations build a foundation, but the ministries that benefit lift us all. It is a special joy, when the Foundation makes grants from these funds to the church. With such a firm Foundation, we can look up and see the good that is being done. What a joy!
